Bible Reading and Memorizing

Hey everyone! You may remember a couple of weeks ago for the daily scripture instead of posting a scripture passage I posted verses about a particular topic. Well, I’m doing that again and today that that topic is, Bible reading and memorizing.

Scripture:

  • “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” -Joshua 1:8

  • “But he answered, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”-Matthew 4:4

  • “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”
    -2 Timothy 3:16-17

  • “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.” -Proverbs 9:10

  • “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Blessed are you, O Lord; teach me your statutes! With my lips I declare all the rules of your mouth. In the way of your testimonies I delight as much as in all riches. I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. I will delight in your statutes;
    I will not forget your word.” -Proverbs 119: 9-16

Quotes

  • “As sin lures the body into sinful action, we call to mind a Christ-revealing word of Scripture and slay the temptation with the superior worth and beauty of Christ over what sin offers.” –John Piper
  • “God’s Word must be so strongly fixed in our minds that it becomes the dominant influence in our thoughts, our attitudes, and our actions. One of the most effective ways of influencing our minds is through memorizing Scripture. David said, “I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You” (Psm. 119:11).” -Jerry Bridges
