My Favorite Hymn: Rock of Ages

Hey everyone!

Recently I saw another Christian blogger post her favorite hymn on her blog and I thought I would share mine. Mine is Rock of Ages; it has always been such and encouraging, powerful hymn to me. While most people do not know it, there is a different, newer version of the song that I actually prefer to the original tune. You can listen to it below as well as read the lyrics:

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee;
let the water and the blood,
from thy wounded side which flowed,
be of sin the double cure;
save from wrath and make me pure.

Not the labors of my hands
can fulfill thy law’s commands;
could my zeal no respite know,
could my tears forever flow,
all for sin could not atone;
thou must save, and thou alone.

Nothing in my hand I bring,
simply to the cross I cling;
naked, come to thee for dress;
helpless, look to thee for grace;
foul, I to the fountain fly;
wash me, Savior, or I die.

While I draw this fleeting breath,
when mine eyes shall close in death,
when I soar to worlds unknown,
see thee on thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee.

I pray this song is a great encouragement to you and a reminder of the great salvation we have in the Lord Jesus Christ. As the song says, nothing in my hand I bring, simply to the cross I cling. I would love to hear what your favorite hymn is! Comment below and share your own thoughts and comments!

Turn the Tide -Abigail Miller

This is a wonderful song sung by Abigail Miller. It is a prayer to God for revival in America. Enjoy and keep our country in prayer that God would “turn the tide.”

40 Brave Soldiers for Christ

A wonderful story of 40 Roman Soldiers who stood up for their beliefs even to the death. Please take the time to listen to this video.

‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus

This is one of my favorite songs. I think my favorite verse of it is:
Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

One person duet

This is Mrs. Peggy playing a duet for me by herself on the piano. I like this video a lot just because it is such a fun song. Mrs. Peggy plays the piano beautifully, but I don’t think I got any video of her playing any more.

Hallelujah, What a Savior-shorter

This is part of “Hallelujah, What a Savior” played by Pastor Alligood and Mrs. Peggy.

Hallelujah, What a savior

This is Pastor Alligood and Mrs. Peggy playing “Hallelujah, What a Savior” on the piano and guitar in Texas.

A Mighty Fortress-guitar

Amazing Grace-Piano and Guitar

This is my former pastor and his wife. When I went down to visit them in Texas, they played some songs on the piano and guitar. Enjoy!

Rock of Ages-newer tune

I had always loved the song Rock of Ages. One day at church one of out pianist suggested we sing this version of the song. I loved it! I now prefer this version of the song than the other one. I hope you enjoy this beautiful song.
